What each hair question is really about
Geometry, not a style guide. Each question below belongs to one of the three ratios, and the ratio is named. It is this data set's own reading of its own numbers — not a standard from elsewhere.
- Where is the width on this row? Neither end is pinched: 0.88 at the forehead and 0.84 at the jaw, close to each other and close to the cheekbones.
- A bangs or fringe question. It belongs to the forehead ratio, 0.88.
- A length question — long hair or short. It belongs to the length ratio, 1.75, the highest in the file.
- A jaw or lower-third question. It belongs to the jaw ratio, 0.84.
- A "best hairstyles for an oblong face" question. That wording hides all three numbers; say which of 1.75, 0.88 or 0.84 the answer should move.
